Thir13en Ghosts
Director: Steve Beck Year: 2001 Language: English Country: America
Cyrus Kriticos is a wealthy collector of many things, including the tormented souls of the dead still wandering the realm of the living. When he dies, he leaves everything to his nephew Arthur. When Arthur and his two children travel to Cyrus' house to see their inheritance, the soon discover their Uncles collection of ghosts in the basement and along with an ex-employee of Cyrus become trapped in the house, fighting for their lives.

From the "quirky" spelling and the awful for 10 minutes, I had resigned to the fact that this film would be barely watchable. But once the family are in the house, it picks up and becomes enjoyable in a guilty pleasure kind of a way. The main setup plays out like a kind of Haunted House meets Cube as the family find themselves trapped inside Cyrus' strange mansion which has been constructed using a lot of glass making it like some kind of demented fun house.

The set and ghosts are well designed and have a pretty cool look, the plot is passable and pretty standard for the genre and the acting is pretty dodgy for most of the time.

Overall, definitely watchable and actually enjoyable after the first 10 minutes.
