This prehistorically set drama by over the top disaster movie director Roland Emmerich is nothing short of awful. The plot follows a tribe of nomads living high in the mountains. D'Leh has visions of being the leader of the tribe and following his heart to take his childhood sweetheart Evolet as his wife.

When a band of marauding villians ransack the village and take his friends and Evolet captive, D'Leh embarks on a journey to save his tribe and rescue the slaves being used as slave labour to build pyramids and such.

Plotwise, 10,000 BC is pretty much identical to Apocalypto, but not nearly as well executed. The main characters are nowhere near as well developed as they need to be to hold the movie together, the effects are dodgy in places and some of the situations the hero finds himself in are pretty ridiculous, even if you suspend belief to the best of your abilities.

All in all, Roland Emmerich should stick to big budget disaster movies, even something as inane as 2012 is at least enjoyable, 10,000 BC was dull from about 10 minutes in.
