Caine is a young man growing up in East L.A., his childhood was blighted by drugs and violence, his father was a drug dealer and his mother a junkie. Caine is destined to live a life on the streets earning money selling drugs and becoming involved in gang violence. When he is given a chance to get out of this cycle he must decide whether to take it, or stay where he is.

Menace II Society is a violent and grim look at the life of a young man. While Caine's current life does have it's good moments, it's clear that if he continues on the path he's on, he could end up dead. The film focuses more on the main characters than any compicated plot, which makes for good drama.

Meance II Society is well shot and like Boyz 'N the Hood has something to say about growing up in the poorer districts of American cities.
