Eddie Doyle is a safe cracker working in Washington D.C. in 1935, when he is busted on a job, he is enlisted by the Navy to take part in a mission to retreive information about a machine the Japanese are using to encode messages. He is taken into the charge of Lieutenant Coburn and together the pair hatch a plan to break into the residence of the Japanese official who has the device and get details about the machine.

The plot has a number of twists and turns up its sleeve, especially in the backstory of Lieutenant Coburn and his relationship with the Japanese. The shooting style has a very theatrical quality to it, with many scenes feeling more like a play than a typical movie. There are odd touches of humour along the way and these are well placed so as not to detract from the main plot.

Good plot, good acting, although there isn't anything really unqiue about this film.
